By Geekgirl is a new community for Girls in Tech, inspiring young women worldwide to use technology to create a better life for themselves and others. Our values are empowerment, inspiration, and education.
When I grew up, I repeatedly heard “No” and “You can’t do that!” As a result I came to feel trapped as a child, not having a choice or say in who I wanted to be and what I wanted to accomplish. I felt powerless. I felt unheard. I felt that what I wanted didn’t matter. Today I am a 33-year old woman who has made the most out of every moment ever since I turned 18. Originally from Germany, I’ve lived in the USA, the UK and I call Australia my home now. I founded 4 tech startups, I’ve worked with 30+ startups worldwide; I had good days, I had bad days, I had success and I had many failures (!). This is my life, this is my exciting rollercoaster, and I would not want it any other way. For me, it’s pure freedom and self-fulfilment. I created a life of abundance – because I have learned that if I want something for myself, I go out and get it. Nobody can hold me back, there are no “No’s” in life, there are just the limits that we place on ourselves.
I created By Geekgirl to empower girls who heard, just like me, many “No’s” in their lives. I want to give you the confidence and understanding that you matter and that you can do and work towards anything that you wish to accomplish for yourself and others. I believe that we can use technology to create equality, happiness and a kinder world from which we all, young and old, human and animal, and our beautiful nature can benefit from. Go out there and be who you are, create a life that makes you happy! – Katrin Suess, Founder By Geekgirl
